As a social enterprise start-up and operating within and around the charity space, Money Mentors needed a strong identity that stood out amongst local authority services and well publicised nationally recognised competitors.
The identity had to be eye catching, bright and uplifting, yet promote collaboration, support and success.
This project started with the colour scheme. Analysing nearest competitors and similar service providers pointed to a sector dominated by limited palettes of dark and mid blues.
The identity needed to work in harmony these tones, as in many instances the logo would be positioned alongside competitor logos in promotional materials, but it also needed to stand out.
A bold palette of strong purple and hot pink were selected to reflect empathy, respect and optimism.
The symbol itself was designed as an interpretation of two figures emerging jubilantly from the edge of a coin in mutual celebration. The ‘hand holding’ position of the figures quite literally illustrated the nature of the mentoring service – mentoring and close support through a tough time.
An easily recognised, fresh and bright identity that stands clear of (and works with) competitors, and simple, clean applications from simple stationery and a wordpress website right through complex sets of forms, documents and worksheet toolkits.
